Welcome to Radical Empathy Counseling!
Let’s take up space, get connected, and accept ourselves, exactly as we are.
Who we are
Welcome to Radical Empathy Counseling LLC, a therapeutic space that specializes in complex trauma/PTSD, the LGBTQIA+ community, and substance use. You do not need to qualify for any of these identities to see Jay, you are welcome as you are. Jay has experience with anxiety, depression, marginalized identities, life transitions, stress, and self-esteem. Jay values the relationship that is created in the sacred therapeutic space, which is the force from which change blossoms from. Trauma disconnects us from self and others. A large part of the healing process includes reconnect with self, others, and community.
If you are curious or want to know more, they are excited to connect with you!
Past clients, please reach out if you feel you can and want to. I’d love to connect with you.
Jay (whom some may know as Jen), MS, LPC (they/them) has been in practice for 5+ years and has been privileged to have worked with all kinds of folks. Jay has worked in substance use treatment centers, community organizations, both nonprofit and community service boards, and private practices. They have enjoyed engaging in individual therapy and various types of group therapy, including IOPs, outpatient, and peer support. Jay believes this has given them the ability to work with all kinds of folks, thriving in various settings, and has increased both their experience and expertise with a wide variety of challenges we face.
Jay does not believe substance use recovery looks the same for each person. They use a harm reduction framework to explore your goals and how we both can work together to obtain them. Jay has also volunteered with harm reduction agencies, ensuring folks who use substances have access to care and Narcan (opioid reversal medicine). This is a critical passion of theirs. They often check in around the safety of use and ways to increase safety, depending on the goals of the client.
